What is OLFAC3?
OLFAC3 is an independent Malaysian perfumery house founded in 2016 by Malaysian perfumer Aien Mokhtar.
Through her original perfume creations, Aien explores the connections between scent, memory, heritage, people and place.
Today, OLFAC3’s fragrances are presented through three distinct collections: OLFAC3 Perfumes, the original collection available internationally; KemBali, created exclusively for Bali; and the Atelier Collection, available exclusively at Maison OLFAC3 in Bali.
Is OLFAC3 a Malaysian perfume brand?
Yes. OLFAC3 was founded in Malaysia in 2016 by Malaysian perfumer Aien Mokhtar and remains an independent Malaysian perfumery house.

What does OLFAC3 mean?
OLFAC3 comes from the word “olfactory”, relating to the sense of smell.
The number 3 also carries meaning within OLFAC3. It represents the three pillars that shape every fragrance we create: creativity, craftsmanship and emotion.

Who is Aien Mokhtar?
Aien Mokhtar is a Malaysian perfumer and the Founder and Chief Perfumer of OLFAC3.
Her journey into scent and perfumery began more than 20 years ago, growing from an early fascination with fragrance, aromatherapy and essential oils into years of research, experimentation and perfume creation.
Today, every OLFAC3 fragrance is an original creation by Aien, shaped by her heritage, memories, travels, experiences and the places and people that have stayed with her.
Is Aien Mokhtar a Malaysian perfumer?
Yes. Aien Mokhtar is a Malaysian perfumer of Malay-Chinese heritage and the Founder and Chief Perfumer of OLFAC3.

How did Aien Mokhtar become a perfumer?
Aien Mokhtar’s journey into perfumery began with a personal fascination with scent, aromatherapy and essential oils.
She spent years researching, learning and experimenting with her own blends before attending workshops and pursuing her interest in perfumery through her travels across Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
Her journey eventually took her to Grasse, France, the perfume capital of the world, where she further explored the art of perfumery.
After more than a decade of learning, practising and refining her craft, Aien began creating her own range of original fragrances and founded OLFAC3 in Malaysia in 2016.

What is the KemBali Collection?

The name KemBali plays on the Indonesian word “kembali”, meaning “to return” or “to come back”, reflecting the idea of returning to memories of Bali through scent.

In Kuala Lumpur, the complete KemBali Collection can be experienced at OLFAC3 Scentsorium, but is not otherwise available for purchase there.
What is the OLFAC3 Atelier Collection?
The Atelier Collection is a changing selection of small-batch, limited-edition fragrances created by Aien Mokhtar using ingredients from her perfumer’s archive.
Created outside OLFAC3’s regular collections, the Atelier gives Aien the freedom to explore new ideas, ingredients and expressions in perfume.

OLFAC3 fragrances are Eau de Parfum, with a fragrance concentration of approximately 20–25%, and can last up to eight hours or longer.
Longevity varies depending on the perfume’s composition, your skin and the environment. Woody fragrances, for example, will often remain noticeable longer than lighter compositions.

Does OLFAC3 create bespoke or custom perfumes?
Yes. Aien Mokhtar accepts a limited number of private bespoke perfume commissions, creating an original fragrance around the individual, their preferences and what they would like their personal scent to express.
The bespoke perfume service is offered selectively to a limited number of clients each year and is available by enquiry.
